Maria Karina Grimsland

Maria was born in Os, Norway to Nikoli and Berta Kobbeltvedt. She was blessed as a young woman with the opportunity to work and travel the world on a cruise liner, which led to her immigration to America. Maria previously lived in Brooklyn, NY and then Sparta for 28 years. Upon the death of her beloved spouse, Anders Grimsland in 1986, she moved back to Norway, where she resided until coming to Hardyston, in 1997. During her years in New Jersey she spent time as a volunteer to the disabled elderly in the area.

Maria is predeceased by her husband, Anders in 1986, and her twin sister Ragna Hansen. She is survived by two sons; Steven and wife Stacie Grimsland, and David and wife Irina Grimsland, two daughters; Arleen Irons, and Linda Lanza and husband Gerry. Nine grandchildren; Michael, Chris and Heidi Irons, Kristina and Anders Lanza, Andrew Grimsland, and Andreas, Marius, and Nikolai Grimsland. Friends and family are invited Sunday 1-5 PM to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A Funeral Service will be celebrated Monday 11 AM from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 3320 State Hwy 94 Hamburg, NJ. Interment will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Memorial donations will be accepted by the family to Prince of Peace Church.
