

Newton -Mary I. Tyne (Hamill) went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2012 in Newton, NJ. She was 95. Mary was born in Jersey City, to Alexander S. and Ethel (McClary) Hamill. She lived in Newton, having previously resided in Succasunna, Florham Park, Manchester, and Bloomfield for 30 years. Mrs. Tyne was employed as a school teacher for over 20 years with the Nutley Board of Education. While in Manchester she was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Lakehurst, an accomplished bridge player, and a member of the Navy League. Mary loved being outdoors, enjoying cross country skiing, hiking and had an affinity for reading. She loved travelling, and was a performer with the “Knollaires” singing group. Mrs. Tyne is predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1973.Surviving her is a son; James and his wife Josephine Tyne of Caldwell, a daughter; Alexandra and her husband Thomas Fitzpatrick of Sparta. Seven grandchildren; Jennifer Cardoza, Vincent Grant, Patience, Mercy, Charity, Constance, and Victor Tyne, and two great grandchildren; Luke and Isabelle Cardoza. Family and friends are invited to an 11 am Funeral Liturgy at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha RC Church, Sparta, NJ on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 followed by interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Monclair, NJ.
