He is survived by his wife of 52 years Marie; his sister, Eileen Latham; his granddaughter Stephanie Stassi; his step-son Christopher Marston; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his step-son, Anthony Stassi, his wife Beverly, and their daughter Samantha, as well as Mike’s sister Peggy Willis, and his brothers Daniel, Dennis, James, and John Driscoll. He will be missed greatly by all of his family.
Mike was born in Brockton, MA in 1937 to Matthew and Mary (McCarthy) Driscoll. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1954, and later served in the army. For more than two decades he worked as a salesman at the thriving Knapp Shoe company. He later worked as a supervisor and plant manager of the uniform division at UFI, and then went on to enjoy working as a driver at Kelly’s Car Service with many of his friends. He met Marie on Cape Cod and they married in 1969. Mike was greatly devoted to his wife, and together they traveled everywhere from Paris to the Poconos. He and Marie loved to golf together and watch horse races. For many years, they led a family trip to enjoy the Belmont Stakes. After the couple moved to New York, Mike remained a loyal fan of his New England sports teams. While a quiet man, Mike always had a funny story to share and a twinkle in his eye. His family fondly remembers him as a doting caretaker and a man of simple pleasures, happy to greet each day with a cup of Dunkins coffee, a cigarette, the daily newspaper, and his wife’s company.
Mike’s life will be celebrated with a mass at Our Lady of the Lakes in Sparta, NJ on Monday, September 13 at 10:30 am and will be interred afterwards at Sparta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, or any charity of your choice.
