Richard Michael Steurer

Born to John and Olga (Kissel) Steurer in Glen Ridge, NJ, he grew up in Lake Parsippany NJ. Upon marrying “Richie” moved to Lake Hiawatha and then to Sparta NJ where he resided with his wife, Janet Fitzgerald (nee Huncken) and their 4 children. Upon his divorce, Richie moved back to Parsippany NJ but traveled frequently to Clearwater FL to visit family.

Richie worked at his family farm in his early years before joining United Parcel Service as a tractor trailer driver. Upon his retirement from UPS, Richie purchased his own tractor trailer and enjoyed cross-country trips out west (with snow skis in tow) as an over the road trucker; in later years he continued his adventures by sailing the Jersey coast and traveling in his RV.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, his son James Steurer, his sisters Marie Orsello and Elizabeth Nixon, niece Ana Orsello and nephew Mark Vogt.

He is survived by his sister Josie Martin, brother John Steurer (Lorie) and his children; Richard Steurer Jr (Michele), Regina Trautz (William) and Christine Steurer. His grandchildren; Andrew (Ariel), Matthew & Grace Steurer, Taylor (Brandon) Hammons, Alyssa Merwin, Dylan & Robert Steurer and Ryan Jaick, a great granddaughter Haven Hammons as well as many nieces and nephews.

Private cremation services under the direction of Goble Funeral Home, Sparta. Graveside services will be held for family and close friends in the near future.
