Bobby was born to Bernard “Bob” R. Mitchell and Catherine “Cathy” A. Mitchell on December 5, 1956, in Newark, New Jersey.
He grew up in Sparta, New Jersey, graduating from Sparta High School in 1975, going on to attend and graduate from Western New England College in 1979 with a degree in political science. Bobby also received a master’s in public administration from Farleigh Dickinson University. Bobby worked for the Towns of Wildwood and Newton in New Jersey before settling into a long career for the Town of South Brunswick, New Jersey before retiring in 2019.
Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family; playing video games or Legos with his nephew or playing dollhouse with his nieces (even if it meant driving the plot in a darker direction); fishing; reading about history, particularly the Civil War era of the United States; and hosting an online radio program showcasing music he enjoyed. He enjoyed talking sports and politics with anyone, even if he would stubbornly stick to his opinions and blunt takes, it always made the discussion spirited.
As an avid New York sports fan, he followed the Yankees enthusiastically, the Mets somewhat less enthusiastically, and the Giants, particularly of the last decade, with a reasonable amount of contempt. While he may not miss suffering through another Giants season, he will certainly be missed by all.
Bobby is predeceased by his father Bob and mother Cathy.
He is survived by his brother William (Don), sister Patricia, nieces and nephews Mary (Jackie), Michael, and Hayley (Alex).
