She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Alice & Bill Collins. She grew up in Flushing with her parents and her four sisters. Terry graduated from St. Agnes High School and then went to work at the Equitable Life Insurance Company. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, John Mazzaferre.
After their marriage, they built a family filled with faith, love, and laughter. The family lived in Flushing for many years before making their way to Sparta 50 years ago.
Terry was passionate about her faith and her family, acting as champion of both. She was a fixture at the 8:30 AM daily mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, and she enjoyed volunteering and serving her community. She was very active in OLL’s Social Ministries, serving as co-chair of the Adopt-A-Family program and the Respect Life Committee.
Most of all, Terry enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Simple family dinners, lunches with friends, family reunions, and celebrating life’s joyous events all brought her happiness. We all looked forward to enjoying her famous scones or other iconic desserts. “Toots”, as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was a constant presence at their events, whether a lacrosse game, Christmas play, graduation, or sacramental celebration.
Terry was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters Marie Callahan (Tim) and Joann Redshaw (Dennis); her grandchildren Lindsey Ryan (Connor), Doug Redshaw, Katie Senney (Cory), and Erin Callahan; her great-granddaughter Quinn Ryan; her sister, Eileen Faherty; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Mazzaferre; her parents Alice & Bill Collins; and her sisters Betty Ann Leimkuehler, Regina Sullivan, and Trish Mastroianni.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday September 22nd at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, New Jersey.
