Arlene Margaret Powell

February 20, 1938 - December 21, 2023

It is with great sadness to announce that our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother has passed away peacefully in her home.

Arlene was born in Brinsmade, ND to Throphilus and Gena (Johnson) Tofsrud. She grew up in North Dakota, later moving to Spokane, WA to raise her family.

Family and a strong faith in God were the two most important things in Arlene's life. She was devoted to both and was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

Being a homemaker and a mother of seven children she was always busy. She enjoyed her many, many crafts, her yard, garden, socializing, family picnics, keeping up with old friends & relatives and watching the Mariners & Gonzaga. Known for kindness and her soft gentle humor, she was quick to offer you something to eat, coffee and putting a smile on your face. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survived by her children Diane (Dave) Pritchard, Duane (Jolene) Wentz, David (Barb) Wentz, Robert (Kathi) Wentz, Kathy Kostelecky and Debra Powell. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ward E Powell, her parents, brother LeRoy Tofsrud, sister Phyliss Sailor, son Kenneth Wentz and son in law Curtis Kostelecky.

Services will be held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church located at 11315 E Broadway in Spokane Valley, WA on Friday, January 5th, 2024 at 11:00 am.
