

Buu Tri Nguyen, age 87, of Spokane Valley, WA passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021, surrounded by loving family members.
He was born on July 25, 1934 in Saigon, Vietnam. An alumnus of Petrus Ky Truong Vinh Ky, Buu went on to attend the Thu Duc Officer Infantry School. After graduation, Buu served as an officer in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) with the rank of major.
A soft-spoken and kind-hearted man, Buu was described by his colleagues and friends as a peacekeeper and as someone whom others can confide in and count on for help in difficult time. As the oldest brother in the family, he took care of his younger sisters, and they looked upon him with much love and respect. In 1970, Buu found the love of his life, and got married to Tuyet Hoang. After the Vietnam war, he served many years in prison before immigrating to the United States and creating a new life for his family in Spokane Valley, WA.
Buu loved watching soccer, attending Buddhist temple, and staying actively involved with the Vietnamese senior community in Spokane.
Buu was the most loving husband, nurturing father, caring grandfather, attentive brother, and welcoming friend. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include 2 sisters, 4 sons, 1 daughter, and 9 grandchildren. No matter how far the distances were between him, his children, and grandchildren, he always managed to call them regularly and inquired about their health and well beings. No matter what his children’s needs were, Buu was always there for them. Family and friends are grieving his passing and celebrating his well-lived life.
Funeral Service will be held on March 20, 2021 at 8:30 am at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA. Graveside Service will be held on March 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA.
