September 26, 1931 – October 3, 2026
Carol “Joanne” Boyer, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Born in Mount Vernon, Washington, on September 26, 1931, Joanne met life’s early challenges with quiet resilience, building the joyful, loving life she always deserved. Her true journey began when she married Jonathan G. Boyer on May 30, 1952. Together, they shared 67 remarkable years of devotion and raised three children: Stephen, Laura, and Guy.
A natural socializer who loved connecting with others, Joanne traveled across the country with Jon in their motorhome and journeyed abroad, yet home remained her happiest place. There, her artistic talents shone. She was an exceptional seamstress who crafted one-of-a-kind formal wear for her children, while her knitting produced blankets that wrapped family in comfort. Joanne’s kitchen table was the heart of the home, where guests were welcomed with morning coffee and pastries or evening cocktails and pupus. Outside, her green thumb cultivated a park-like haven of cherished rhododendrons and visiting birds.
Joanne retired from Ralston Purina after a dedicated career as an office manager. Deeply committed to her community, she served as past President of the Spokane Valley Suburbanites and remained a faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church for 65 years.
She is survived by her children, Laura Lee and Guy Boyer (Terri); grandchildren, Christina Brown (Damon), Johnathan Boyer (Kalynn), and Christopher Lee; great-grandchildren, Chance and Zoey Brown; her dear cousin, Richard “Dick” Hall; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jonathan; son, Stephen; parents, Mable Crawford and Oscar Roseland; brother, Robert Roseland; and half-sister, Kathleen Chrysler.
In her honor, please raise a glass—or share a “snort” of your favorite spirit.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA, followed by an on-site reception and burial at Pines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
