

Colette was born in Bremerton, WA on March 9, 1942 to Thelma and Dan Berube. She was the third oldest of 7 daughters and grew up in Everett, WA. She attended Everett High School and graduated with honors, then attended WSU to earn a BA Degree in Teaching. Started her teaching career in the Bay Area, then taught with the Department of Defense Overseas Schools. One year in Okinawa, and one year in Bitburg, Germany. While in Europe she had many opportunities to travel. Shortly after returning to California she met her future husband Jim Yancey. Six months later they married and lived in Sunnyvale, CA. She returned to Union School District as a First Grade Teacher. Her Happiest days were teaching first grade. They then moved to Almaden Valley for 10 years and had two children, Ryan and Kelly. With Jim’s transfer to Liberty Lake, WA, we moved into a beautiful home near the lake and raised the children. Many afternoons were spent on the lake swimming and picnicking. Colette continued her career teaching first grade at Otis Orchards Elementary. She retired in 2005. She had a warm and loving personality and everyone enjoyed her company.
