40 years of good memories and love

Dear Cecelia, Kristina, Dawn, Russell and families,
	We have been Peone Prairie neighbors for fifty years and Dave has been the epitome of what it means to be a husband, father, grand- and great-grandfather, farmer, friend and neighbor. His legacy is the example he has left for us to emulate. You are on my mind and in my heart as you grieve his loss. My hope is that fond memories will sustain you as you adjust to life without him.

Denise and I were young and in college. We had no money. Dave (Call sign 36) and Cecelia (Call sign 42) welcomed us into their home and fed us. They fed us a lot!  Over and over they fed us. I could eat a lot but I was no match for Rusty!  We learned that welcoming others into a house made it a home. We learned that patience and kindness were guiding principles that Dave and Cecelia embodied each day. Dave taught me about mechanics and keeping order in the shop. More importantly, he taught me about humility and kindness and patience.  I learned that the future held promise as Dave was truly a pioneer in adopting new technology. In all that he did he worked to be efficient with his time. He relished spending time with others most of all.  He was in many ways a father to me. I love and respect him for the person he was. He was big in stature but he was even bigger when he opened his heart to help you. He and Cecelia were God’s love made real to us.  Call sign 36-Over and Out until we meet again. John Harro

Dave was a giant of a man physically and spiritually. The first time I met him was in his barn. In 1975. We were new to Spokane and to Whitworth Church. He and Cecelia hosted a barn dance for young couples for a group called Jolly Rogers. We went and met him. He said he didn’t dance. 
He and Cecelia talked us into renting a place in AZ at their park. 2010. It was New Years Eve and he had gotten tickets for us for the ball. We got the tickets from them and he said “have nice time”. You aren’t going?  No, we don’t dance. 
Dave was an expert with leather and belonged to a club at the park. I joined. I made a wallet. I was proud of it. He looked it over and then said” nice, “ and proceeded to point out numerous flaws in my workmanship! His integrity would not allow him to let pass my amateur attempt. I still have that wallet, flaws included and the memories of that giant of a man. 

David was a gentleman and a gentle man! So privileged to  call him, Cecelia, Kristina, Dawn and Russ family. Peace to his memory!

David was always such a nice person.  He always had a big smile when he would come in the office. Sending hugs to all his family❤️

Flipping through my memories I remember how you always were educating us youngsters on the value of hard work and the value of agriculture.

He always knew what was going on and would show up to give you a ride to the next field or home to dinner.

The satisfaction you give the younger set on opening the grain gate and filling grain bins

Family assemble for good farm meals.  Family always knows where the kitchen table end of day meetings are, the table extends for anybody who brought their appetite.
