Dolores Duddy passed away on August 27, 2018, three weeks following the celebration of her 96th birthday. Dolores Rachael Condo was born on July 30, 1922, to Lester and Sophrona Condo in Spring Mills, PA. Dolores married Paul Francis Duddy on June 12, 1943, in Williamsport, PA. They were happily married for 67 years until Paul’s death in April, 2010. Dolores treasured and reread the many letters Paul wrote her during his business trips as an electrical engineer in the early years of their marriage which were such a comfort to her after his death. Dolores and Paul had seven children, Michael, Suzanne (Mother Kathryn Joseph), Patricia, Paula, Brian, and Brendan. A daughter, Mary Josephine, died in infancy in 1950. The Duddy family relocated to California in 1955 with hopes of avoiding the long wait-lists for Catholic education for their children. Faith, family, food, fun, and friends delighted Dolores throughout her long life. Dolores’ many friends and loved ones remember her sparkling blue eyes, dark red lipstick, joyful countenance, and lovely hallmark hair bows.
Dolores is survived by her children, thirteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Rosary and viewing will take place in the main chapel of Immaculate Heart Retreat Center on Wednesday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. A funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. with Deacon John Ruscheinsky officiating. A lunch reception will take place at the Retreat Center before interment at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family extends sincere thanks to Hospice House of Spokane for the attention and dignified care offered to Dolores and her family.
