Edith Iola Carty

Edith I. Carty passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Edith was born July 29, 1937 in St. Joseph, MO and spent her childhood in Omaha NE. She was preceded in death by her 5 siblings. In 1961, she moved to the Pacific NW to be closer to her brother Kenny Hogan, and ultimately moved to Spokane in 1964 to raise her children.

In 1983, Edith met her belated husband George and they had been happy together for almost 40 years before George passed away last December. Edith and George spent their early retirement years traveling around in their camper and ultimately becoming snowbirds in Yuma, AZ. In their travels, Edith met many wonderful lifelong friends that she still stayed in touch with.

Mom was a strong, loving person who touched the lives of people she met, including many in her neighborhood where they had lived for 40 years. To quote one of her special friends, "Our crummy world has one less Angel on Earth."

Edith is survived by children Debbie (Mike) Moore, Cindy Robinson, Linda Elliot, and granddaughter Nichole Robinson. A memorial service is planned at 11 am on Friday June 16th at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 3327 S Perry, Spokane.
