

Emil Gehrman was born August 11, 1927 in Beavercreek, OR to Emil and Catherine Gehrman. He was raised in Latah, WA and moved to Spokane in the mid-1930’s. He died at home from a heart attack on November 29, 2014. Emil served in the U. S. Army. He was a truck driver for Ross Transfer and retired from Bestway Motor Freight in 1986. Emil is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary, children Jean Labarge, Ed (Lee) Sonderman, Luann (Remy) Osso, Darrel (Holly) Gehrman, Carey (Brian) Olinger, Doug (Kathy) Gehrman, Bob (Felicia) Sonderman, Sheryl Johnson, Lori (Michael) Matthews, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Emil was a member of the VFW Post 1435 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved the horses, football, golf, gardening (especially tomatoes), fishing, Dave’s Tavern and socializing with family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Meals-on-Wheels or VFW Post 1435.
