

Frank Hoffman Dearth was born on May 15, 1918 in Witchita, Kansas to Frank E. and Alice Dearth. Frank was one of seven children. Frank moved with his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where he graduated from High School. After High School graduation, Frank worked in the oil industry in Oklahoma, before moving to California where he worked at various jobs until joining the United States Coast Guard in 1941. While stationed at the Grand Coulee Washington Coast Guard Station in 1943, he met Vera Winslow, a nurse at the local hospital. Frank and Vera were married on January 3, 1955. After his discharge from the Coast Guard in May of 1945, Frank and Vera lived and worked in Eastern Washington. In 1951, they moved to Santa Monica, California. While in Santa Monica Frank went to trade school and was employed as a machinist and also an auto mechanic. In 1985 Frank and Vera retired and moved to Paradise, California, where they enjoyed their time fishing, duck hunting and traveling to see friends and relatives. After the passing of his wife of 65 years, in 2008, Frank moved to the Spokane Valley where he stayed until his passing on January 13, 2012. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, his parents, 3 sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by 1 brother Stuart Dearth of Harrisonburg, Virginia, numerous nieces and nephews as well as cousins and friends.
