Glenda Joyce (Wilkins) Miller passed into a new life early Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018. She was born in Grangeville, Idaho on December 11, 1936 to John and Marjorie Wilkins. She graduated from Clarkston High School in 1955. It was in high school that Glenda met Earle (Bud) Miller and they were married on September 2, 1955. They had three children and spent all of their married life in Spokane. Glenda returned to school in 1983, after all her children left home, attending Spokane Community College. She was employed at Sacred Heart Medical Center for 21 years, in the Blood Bank, before her retirement in 2005. Glenda was a compassionate Christian woman who reached out to her friends and neighbors with loving deeds and prayers. She was especially famous for her chocolate chip cookies and shared them with everyone. She even shared her secrets about the making of her cookies with her grandchildren, to pass on the tradition. She loved God’s Word and was faithful to teach it to others. Glenda enjoyed arts and craft, gardening and sewing. In her retirement years she began making quilts. Glenda finished quilts for her three children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also, a few friends and relatives were surprised with a gift of a quilt. She also had a tradition of making peanut butter “peanut brittle” at Christmastime and taught many of her friends and relatives the art of making the melt in your mouth candy. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Earle (Bud) Miller in May 2014. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jill) Miller of Jacksonville, Florida and Richard (Juleann) Miller of Davenport, Iowa and daughter, Renee (Scot) LaVoie of Spokane. Seven grandchildren, Eric Miller, Joe Miller, Katie (Chris) Henley, Jordan Miller, Carly Miller, Kramer LaVoie & Tyler LaVoie. Three great grandchildren, Cameron Henley, Kinslee Henley and Adelaide Miller. A sister, Donna (Gary) Florence and two brothers, David (Sharon) Wilkins and Rick (Janice) Wilkins, all from Lewiston, Idaho along with numerous nieces and nephews. There is an old saying, “Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal; Love leaves a memory that no one can steal.” A memorial service for Glenda will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Spokane Valley Baptist Church, 1222 S. McDonald Road at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Spokane Valley Baptist Church in her name.
