Jean Marie Blew passed away at age 61 on December 29, 2023 in Spokane, Washington. She had been diagnosed several years earlier with an aggressive form of frontal lobe dementia. Jean was born March 27,1962 in Spokane to James and Betty Jo Anderson. She grew up in Spokane and Moscow, Idaho before moving to Davenport, Washington in eighth grade. She graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1984 with a degree in psychology.
She married Scott Blew in 1987 and together they opened Blew’s Construction. Jean joined Spokane Valley Nazarene Church in 1986 where she became very involved with the youth department for many years. She and Scott had three children who attended Valley Christian School from K-12th grade. During this time, she was an active supporter of VCS and was loved and cherished by both students and staff.
Jean loved playing sports and could turn almost anything into a friendly competition. Whether it was co-ed softball or a water balloon fight at the lake, you could count on Jean for a good time and getting others involved in the fun. She loved her grandmother’s lake cabin on Twin Lakes, Idaho which would eventually become her own. It would also become something of a “camp” to many kids during the summer months as Jean found great enjoyment in organizing and hosting “Lake Days” for her kids, their classmates, friends and family, church youth, etc. Jean was known for her generous spirit and bringing people together. Although she had many gifts and abilities and was a faithful friend to many, Jean truly fulfilled God’s calling on her life by loving on and caring for youth.
Jean is survived by her husband Scott; her children Sydnee (and Jimmy) Finney, Kolby (and Juliya) Blew, and Dawson Blew; grandchildren Rylee and Korbin Finney; siblings Dave and Dan Anderson, and stepsiblings Theresa, Carla, Clifford, Doug Scott, Rizae, Carla, Jim, and Jeana. She is preceded in death by her parents James Anderson and Betty Jo, stepmother Ellen Anderson and brothers Doug and Dean Anderson.
A celebration of Jean’s life will take place on Saturday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene.
