Jo Marie passed from this life to eternal life on March 10, 2018 at the age of 97. She was born on May 29, 1920 to James Edward and Josephine (Moore) Andren in Spokane, WA. Jo Marie attended grade school in several locations including St. Paul’s School for girls in Walla Walla, WA. She graduated High School in Connell, WA in 1937. Following high school she attended and graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Spokane in 1942. She met Donald R. Collin while she was in nurse’s training. They married on September 5th, 1942 one month before his deployment in the US Army. After Don’s discharge from the Army, they moved to the farm in Franklin County near Connell where Jo Marie lived as a young woman. There they raised four children. Jo Marie was a clinical nurse for several doctors practicing in Connell. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi and BPW. In 1975, she and Don retired to their home on Blue Lake near Ephrata. While at Blue Lake, she joined PEO and was very active in her local chapter. In 1989, they sold their home on Blue Lake and moved to Spokane. She continued her affiliation with PEO and also made a Walk to Emmaus. Wherever Jo Marie lived she was always a member of the local United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and VBS classes in Connell, sang in the church choirs, she was a very active member of UMW, she participated in small group Bible studies, she played the handbells in the bell choir. Music was near and dear to her heart. Jo Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Don Collin and three grandchildren. She is survived by her children Mary Jo (Bob) Seborer, Goldendale; Margie Collin, Spokane; Scott (Jeannie) Collin, Pasco; and Suzi (Dan) Packard, Spokane; and extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 19th at the Mountain View Cemetery on Second Ave. in Walla Walla, WA at 1:00 PM. There will also be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 24th at 2:00 PM at the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church 115 N. Raymond in Spokane Valley. The family would like to thank Sue Christman, close family friend, and Hospice of Spokane for their devoted care of Jo Marie in her final days. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church.
