He was born on September 10, 1939 in Mason City, WA. He graduated from high school in 1957 then entered the Air Force. In the Air Force he was trained to be an Electrician. After leaving the Airforce he was an Electrician at Kaiser Aluminum for the next 44 years.
In 1971 John married Christine. They lived in the Spokane Valley where they enjoyed fishing and exploring the outdoors. After 38 years of marriage sadly Christine passed in September of 2009.
In 2018 John met Shirley Taylor. He and Shirley enjoyed sharing each other’s company whether watching ball games on the television or discussing politics. They spent countless hours on the telephone each day.
His family and friends will always remember him as a devoted airplane pilot. He loved to be in the air flying. He spent hours watching his beloved football and basketball games. Discussing politics was a pastime he enjoyed. His loving kindness will be remembered. He will be missed by all that knew him.
John is survived by his sister Kathy Short of Klamath Falls and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by close family friends Mark Ellis and Steven Ellis.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:30 on July 17th, at South Pine’s Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate and honor John’s life.
In lieu of flowers charitable donations may be made in John Guest’s name to Shriners Hospital for Children of Spokane, WA or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Memphis, TN.
