May 6, 1929 - September 14, 2025
June was born May 6, 1929, in Grenora, ND, the third of six children. She lived on the family farm on the Montana, North Dakota border until she was about seven years old, in a house with no running water. When the family lost the farm during the dust bowl, she, her parents and her five siblings moved to Spokane, WA in 1936 and eventually settled in the Trentwood community. There, the family lived in a small three-bedroom, one-bathroom house on acreage that included a large garden, a cow and chickens. June shared the farm chores with her brother and four sisters. She attended Trent Grade School thru eighth grade and then went to West Valley High School. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Fred Hathaway and in 1953 they welcomed their son, Mike to the family.
June was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Fred; brother, Glenn; and sisters, Lois Batson, Elaine Young and Carol Schjodt. June is survived by her sister, Ina Grunwald; son, Mike (Paula); granddaughters, Michelle Danielson, Nikki Peterson and Melissa Fleming as well as by eleven great grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews.
June was beautiful inside and out, always cheerful and meticulous in her appearance, even at 96 years old. She was a marvelous daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Her family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. James Numata and nurse Darlene for keeping her ticking for 96 years. We would also like to thank her golfing buddies; her best friend, Joanie Koch and Ellen Spalding and others; her poker and pinocle friends at Revel; Russ, Kathy, Marilyn, Johnnie and whoever we may have missed that held a special place in her life. Also, thank you to her new friends at Fields, Helen, Mary K., Pat, Jan and especially, Judy Lane. The last, but not least very special shoutout goes to Paula Hathaway, the absolute best caregiver ever.
