passed away on June 28th, 2025. She was born on December 9th, 1954, to LeeRoy and Eda McMillan.
Kathy’s early years were spent on the family farm in Valleyford. She loved to dance and twirl the baton. Kathy even appeared on Spokane’s TV talent program, “Starlit Stairway.” She was a cheerleader at Freeman High School and was the Southeast Spokane County Fair Queen in 1972.
Kathy then married Steve Asher and had their daughter, Lindsay. Her life centered around her family. She loved the holidays and would decorate for all of them, but her favorite was Christmas. Her main hobby was shopping; she couldn’t resist a good sale. She was also known for her long, painted nails with sparkles, as, in her words, "you can never have enough sparkle".
Her most recent years were spent at Sullivan Park Care Center, where she enjoyed all the activities, including crafts, bingo, movies, and any other celebration they had. Kathy also found joy in coloring and giving everyone a picture she had colored.
Kathy is survived by Steve, Lindsay, sister Connie Ross, and extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the current and previous staff at Sullivan Park Care Center who cared for Kathy.
Per Kathy’s request, there will be no funeral service. She would instead like everyone to listen to an Elvis Presley song and think of a memory of her.
If you would like to honor Kathy, memorial contributions can be made to Sullivan Park Care Center, Attn: Activities Department, 14820 East 4th Ave. Spokane, WA 99216
