Marjorie Pearl Almquist, born in Wallace, Idaho on August 23, 1921 died peacefully in her sleep with family at her side on February 16, 2012. She lived most of her 90 years in Mullan, Idaho, attending all twelve years of school at Mullan. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents John William Taylor and Pearl Artemis Hays, her two younger sisters, Jane Lowry and Dorothy Freeman, her husband Elmer, grandson Jason, and great granddaughters Donna and Carol.
Marjorie married Elmer Almquist and together they raised nine children in Mullan, daughters Joan (and Philip) Wight, June (and Ernie) Kienholz, Sue Almquist, Barbara (and Jim) Thomas, Elma (and Wayne) Chambers, and sons Denny (and Mary Gay), Pudge..(and Jacki), Art (and Mercy), and Gust (and Teresa). Her surviving descendants number 78--9 children, 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, besides numerous nieces and nephews.
Anyone who knew Marjorie knew that her family and her strong faith were of prime importance to her. She was noted for her generosity, hospitality and self sacrificing spirit. Marjorie was an active Bible teacher in her community for over 60 years and her congregation was as dear to her as family. She will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. at the Wallace High School Gymnasium. A gathering will follow at the same location and all are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shoshone County Humane Society, PO Box 1005, Kellogg, Idaho 83837 would be appreciated.
