Age 82
Marvin Gross, born February 4, 1931 to Lydia and Jacob Gross in Ashley, North Dakota, passed away in his home in Spokane Valley, WA on Friday, October 11th with his loving family by his bedside. Marvin grew up on his parent’s farm outside of Ashley, ND. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1956, he married Violet Stevahn of Wishek, ND. He attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND where he learned his trade in heating and refrigeration. After graduating in 1958, he went to work for a private firm in Dickinson, ND. In 1967, he went to work as an instructor for the Job Corps in Dickinson. He later transferred to the Job Corps based in Trapper Creek, MT., where he worked until 1971. He moved to Spokane, WA and worked for private companies; and in 1996, he finished his career after twenty years with Market Equipment Company. Retirement didn’t slow him down as he managed to keep busy. He often did work around the VFW, as well as for many of his friends. Marvin was very active in the VFW Post 1435 in Spokane Valley, where he once held the position of President; active in the Eagles, and the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Violet, of 58 years, and three children, Terry (Mary) Gross, Ron (Patty) Gross, and Linda (Brent) Gross; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Leroy (Gertrude), and sisters, Fern Schock, and Janice (Larry) Gross. A visitation will be held at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 16th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and a funeral service will be held in the Hazen and Jaeger Valley Colonial Chapel on Thursday, October 17th, at 1:00pm. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.
