Myron Eldred Wright “Pe Pa Ge Caw”

Myron was born on April 20, 1943 to Emma and Eldred Wright in Spokane. He passed away March 21, 2013 after a long-fought battle with heart/lung disease. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1961. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Myron met and married Lidice A. Motl from San Angelo, Texas in 1967. They moved back to Spokane and started a family with two sons. Myron was very involved with the Boy Scouts, community and outdoor activities. He always had an open-door policy with family and friends along with a big grin on his face. He worked as an appliance repair technician for many years at G.E. until he retired in 1995. Sports were a passion and lifelong pastime for Myron. That was very evident in all the miles he would travel to watch and support family and friends. Hunting, fishing and APA Pool were other activities that he dearly loved. Myron was preceded in death by his son, Keith Myron Wright. He is survived by Lidice (Me Ma), wife of 45 years; son, Kevin; grandchildren, Krissy, Shelby and Hunter; daughter, Roci; mother-in-law, Pearl Motl; brother-in-law, Gary (Debi) Motl; sister-in-law, Becky (Steve) Ellwanger; aunts, Dorothy Rice and Loretta Widlund; nieces, nephews and numerous cousins in Texas and North Dakota as well as friends near and far. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Visitation will take place from 5 to 8pm on Thursday, March 28th at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Friday, March 29th at the same location. Interment with military honors to follow at Pines Cemetery.

Yesterday was a difficult day for us since we had to say goodbye to a true friend, Myron. Our deepest and sincerest simpathy to Lidice and her family for their loss. Myron was one of a kind, a genuine nice person where what you saw is what you got. I met Myron at West Valley as a fellow freshman in Mr. Kings home room out in metal shop. Our friendship developed through high school and by our senior year, we had become good friends. After graduation, Myron got a job at the Cresent department store in downtown Spokane. During the Summer of 1961, Myron and I would meet during his lunch break from time to time. During one of these meetings in August, I asked Myron If he had ever thought about joining the Air Force? Myron replied with a blank stare and firm "never." I continued to talk about joining and finally convinced Myron to go down to the Air Force recruiting office with me just find out a "little bit" more information. We arrived at the recruiting office and listened to the sales pitch from the Recruiter. Before we knew it, we were filling out papers, taking aptitude tests, physicals, and finally raising our right hands! Myron and I left Spokane for Lackland AFB,TX on October 2, 1961. Myron and I completed our Basic Training at Lackland together(same Squadron and Flight). Myron easily adapted to military life. Myron was one of a select few in our flight to qualify as an Expert on the Rifle Range. Myron also scored very high in electronics on the Air Force aptitude tests and was selected for electronics and radio training at Keesler AFB, MS. After completing his training at Keesler, Myron was assigned to the Air Force Security Service in Okinawa, Japan. The Air Force Security Service is a highly classified part of the Air Force and Myron's work was of a very sensitive nature. After nearly 18 months in Okinawa, Myron was transfered to Goodfellow AFB near San Angelo, TX where he met Lidice and completed his military service. Myron was a true patriot who was very proud(and rightfully so) of his military service. Myron always did his duty.
I am always amazed how that one visit to the recruiting office in 1961 changed Myron's life. Myron found the knowledge and skills for his career at GE and he found Lidice, all because of his Air Force service. God bless you Myron; I will miss you old buddy. We will meet again.

His heart for his grandson, Hunter was seen as he cheered on the his Popwarner, Seminole football team for the last 6 seasons. His boldness, when the Seminoles got a bad call will be missed from the sidelines. His cheers of success and pride as Hunter completed a great pass will linger. May your family cherish the fondest of memories and be comforted by our heavenly Father in this loss.
