Norman C. Brooks of Spokane, WA died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home in Spokane, WA. Born in Reed Springs, MO on September 22, 1930 to John and Lula Brooks. Norman was a highly decorated U.S. Army, veteran of the Korean War. He served as a member of the 209th Artillery Battery and was a recipient of 3 Bronze Service Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, and a National Defense Service Metal.
Norman was a resident of Spokane for 60 years and was married to his late wife Naomi for 42 years. After her passing, he met Eddie Batten and has spent the last 17 years with her.
Norman and Naomi had a successful automotive repair business in Spokane for 30 years. He loved snowmobiling, dune bugging, motorcycle riding, boating and many other outdoor activities with his family at his Priest Lake cabin. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling through the US and Canada, particularly Eastern Canada.
Norman is survived by his daughter Carol and her husband Dan McDonald; three grand children Aaron, Danica and Tami; Danica’s husband Bill Griffin and great grandchild Luke. His brothers Von and James and his sisters Doris and Louise. He is also survived by his loving companion Eddie Batten and her family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 4-8pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 16th at 1:00pm. Interment will follow at Pines Cemetery.
