Olive Bessie Verment

Olive was devoted to family and loved to entertain. Whether it was a holiday, family event, or after a basketball game or other sporting event, Olive and Art cooked up dinner and no one went away hungry. She often babysat her great grandchildren and sometimes her great, great grandchildren, encouraging them to go to church or vacation bible school any chance she could.

Olive was entrepreneurial at heart; she built a business with Shaklee helping people feel and look their best. In the Shaklee business, she met a lot of people and worked her way up to Supervisor earning several vehicles along the way. Before Shaklee, she worked as a secretary, and often spoke about working at Wilson High School (SW Portland, OR) helping students get jobs. Later in life, she made and sold, at farmers markets and craft fairs, her own barbeque sauce and salad dressing. She and Art were involved in the Marine Corp Auxillary, Pines Baptist Church and Dishman Baptist Church. They both enjoyed meeting new people and spending time getting to know them and their families.

Olive enjoyed sewing. She made a quilt or two and helped make baby quilts for the hospital. Any opportunity she had to hold a baby, she took it! She was always amazed at their little features, fingers, and toes. Olive was an avid photographer at holiday and other family events, and she always had a camera in her hands.

She is survived by her children; Lee Verment and Tammy Thompson, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Olive Bessie Verment for Olive will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206. A funeral service for Olive Bessie Verment will occur Friday, July 28, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 E. Broadway Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99037. A graveside service for Olive Bessie Verment will occur Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.
