Richard Eric Grove passed away December 2, 2022. He was known as Dick, Fritz, and Rich by family and friends. He was born October 23, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Walter and Marjorie (Runbeck) Grove. His family moved to San Diego, California in 1945. He graduated from Mars Vista High School in 1961 and lived in several states, working various jobs. He attended college at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada. After graduating from college in 1968, he moved to Poulsbo, Washington and worked in a Bible camp for a few years. Afterwards, he attended Worldwide Evangelization for Christ (WEC International) in Pennsylvania and eventually moved back to Eglon, Washington, where he trained to become a drywall taper. In 1977, he married and settled in Spokane Valley, Washington, and lived there until his death. He retired from the Central Valley School District, having worked as a custodian at University High School for over 20 years. He was a faithful brother, husband, father, grandpa and friend to many. Dick loved Jesus and others well.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and step-father. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of 45 years; daughters Cindy (Devin) and Heidi; sons David (Carolyn) and Peter (Jessica); grandchildren Luke, Micah, Jackson, Parker, Gracie, Liam, Michael; siblings Bill (Darla), Marcia (Robin) Hadfield, Cindy Clonch, Elaine Altig Carlson, Keith (Jenny) Altig, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene Mortgage Fund, Operation Heal Our Patriots through Samaritan’s Purse, or to any other ministry of your choice.
