

He was born to Louis and Margaret Lovejoy on March 16, 1938, and was a life-long Spokane area resident, graduating from North Central High School.
Dick served in the United States Marine Corps and had a 30-year career with the Spokane County Sheriff's Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1995. He rode motorcycle patrol for eight years and was the first SWAT Team Commander for the department. He took great pride in serving our country and community with honor and courage. He was well respected by all who knew him.
Dick enjoyed and excelled in many hobbies over the years. He was an avid snowmobiler, skier, bodybuilder, scuba diver, marksman and boated on Lake Coeur d’Alene for over 20 years. He was a true believer of that you work hard so you can play harder!
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 26 years, Robin. He is survived by his older brother Kenneth Lovejoy, Walla Walla, children Victoria Arsenault, MO, Kenneth Lovejoy (Cheryl), FL, Steven Lovejoy, AZ and Kristie Speir, Spokane, grandchildren Adam (Nicole), Amber, Sydney, Jory (Kevin), Hailee, Mia, Cutler and 12 great-grandchildren along with a loving extended family and numerous friends.
Services will be provided by Hazen & Jaeger Funeral home, 1306 N. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday May 30, 2026 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow.
