Rickey Dean Meagley was born in Spokane, Washington, at Deaconess Hospital on October 26th, 1956 to Arlene Marian Wyene and William Meagley. Rickey spent the first months of his life in Hawaii where his father was stationed in the Navy. His early childhood days were spent in San Francisco in the heart of the Haite and Ashbury neighborhood, then in Pacifica CA and ultimately back to Spokane where he played baseball at Ferris High School. No matter where life took Rickey, he always returned to his roots in Spokane.
Rickey’s young adult years were spent as a cook and a great one at that and into management. Rickey was known to have employed everyone from friends, siblings and even his in laws at Perkins. He later went on to work in construction and finished his working years as a concrete finisher with Winkler Co and OPCMIA Local 72 where his perfectionism showed in the quality of his work.
Rickey was a funny and sensitive man who had an passionate eye for mid century modern design and decor. An enthusiastic fan of music, especially live, he was vinyl collector and thrift store extraordinaire. He was one to strike up conversations with people in his community during his frequent dilly dallying to his favorite shops. Rickey was the best Father, G-pa and biggest cheerleader of his children and grandchildren in their endeavors, especially when it came to sports. His family was his number one, always making plans to ensure we were all getting together on a regular basis.
Rickey is survived by his children: Brittnie (Dan) Koch, Elizabeth (Steve) Meagley, Mark Mangum, grandchildren Morgan, Kendall, Bailey, Rylee, Danika, Gracie Zae; Siblings: Shawn (Kim) Parkey, Kelly Parkey; Jeff (Cindy) Parkey; Ryan (Marlena) Martin; Many nieces and nephews.
Rickey was preceded in death by his mother Alrene Marian Wyene and his father William Meagley.
