

Ruth Marie Wendel passed away on July 24, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She was born August 11, 1920 in Fairfield, WA to John and Doris Reinhardt. On June 1, 1941 Ruth married the love of her life Arthur E. Wendel. They were married 66 years until Bill’s passing in 2008.
Hard work characterized Ruth. She was a member of the Retail Clerks Union. She worked for numerous grocery stores in Spokane that included, Thams Grocery, Wilburn Grocery, Debros Grocery, Lowcost Grocery and Safeway. She worked at JCPenney at U-City up until her retirement.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Bill; sisters Doris Murphy and Delila Burkhart. Ruth is survived by her two children Larry (Candice) Wendel of Pullman, and Robert (Michele) Wendel of Spokane; five grandchildren Nicole, Kyle, Brad, Laura and Desiree; eight great grandchildren Chase, Kason, Koyen, Flynn, Lula, Quinn, Hank and Hadley; brother Ralph Reinhardt of Spokane; sister Dwila Johnson of Spokane; niece Glenda Poston of Bonners Ferry, ID.
The family would like to thank Sullivan Park Care Center and Assisted Living community, the medical staff on 7 South and 8 South at Sacred Heart Medical Center as well as Hospice of Spokane. Special thanks to Donna and Catherine, the harpists at Sacred Heart, who shared their peaceful music with Granny.
A memorial service will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel 1400 S Pines Road, Spokane Valley on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
