

Twila passed away in her home with daughter Paula and Granddaughter Amber Carter on July 27, 2026. Twila was born December 26, 1923 in Bend, Oregon to parents Robert and Fern (Bills) Caughey. She was the third of four daughters.
Twila spent her early days in Kansas later growing up in Sandpoint, Idaho. After graduating high school she went to Seattle to work becoming a “Rosie the Riveter” for Boeing. There she met Paul Terry Anderson who became the love of her life. They married May 40, 1943 in Sandpoint.
Terry was employed by the Washington Department of Transportation. Twila was the homemaker taking care of the family needs which included helping to raise their seven children. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening and reaping the benefits from it. She enjoyed sewing and making things. She was a participant in her children’s activities early and an observer as the children grew. Twila became interested in painting and made several oil paintings that were sold or given as gifts to family and friends. She was always active and liked to keep herself in shape.
Twila and Terry enjoyed the outdoors. They loved to camp with family and friends. They would take fishing trips. They enjoyed visiting National Parks and traveled to Alaska and Hawaii with family and friends. With a friend Twila took a trip to Egypt. She visited Washington DC twice. Once to chaperone her granddaughter Tami Anderson’s school class and the next time to observe her grandson Ty Carter receive the Medal of Honor.
Twila and Terry were very active in the Latter Day Saint Church. Twila was a camp counselor at girls camps where she often taught crafts and gave tours explaining things like types of trees and vegetation they encountered. She held various jobs and positions with the Relief Society among other duties. She and Terry went on a Mission to Germany.
Twila and Terry were able to enjoy their extended family with the addition of their grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Terry passed in 2015. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage.
Twila was preceded in death by her parents, sons Steven and Mark, sisters Helen Sjostrom and Betty Standish, grandsons Seth Carter and Justin Anderson.
Living are sons Terry (Mary Ann), Russell (Georgianna), daughters Joyce Bond (Joe), Paula Carter and Gayle Fisk, and sister Nancy Pedersen as well as her numerous grand and great grandchildren.
