Velva Darlene (York) Ward passed on April 19, 2018. At the time of her passing she was a resident of Spokane, WA. Velva was 80 years old. She was the daughter of Raymond and Vivian York, sister to Henry. Velva was the wife of Edward Ward and Mother to six children: Ray, Eddie, Steve, Tom, Connie, and Misty. Velva was an aunt, mother-in-law, (in-law and out-law, as she would say), grandmother, and great grandmother and an artist. She had lifelong friends and new acquaintances. We all know we are human and living life can wear a body down, age, illness, and injury take its toll. Velva lived 80+ years. She worked different jobs throughout her life. Velva drove school bus for West Valley School District, then East Valley School District. She even painted a wall mural in the bus garage for East Valley. Velva designed the letterhead and emblem of Mt. Spokane/Newman Lake used for East Valley School District. Velva Ward’s passion was her art. She loved to paint and draw and to see the smiles on faces when people looked at her art work. She always wanted to be a famous artist, so to honor Velva, her own artwork will be etched in granite on her headstone. Many people loved her and she loved many. We will miss her greatly.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
