Virginia was born in Endicott, Washington September 4, 1922. At age 3, her family moved to St. Maries Idaho, where she attended school. Later, she met and married her husband, Ed Hersh, and they had 2 wonderful sons. When WWII broke in 1941, Virginia and Ed moved their family to Bremerton, where Ed worked. She later went to work in the Navy yard, before moving to Seattle, where she began working at Boeing, then at the Seattle Army Service Depot. They stayed in Seattle until the war ended and moved to Spokane, where Virginia began working at Lakeland Village, from which she retired after 25 years of service. It was at Lakeland Village that she learned to love those special children, each one had a very special place in her heart.
