William Daniel Gray

Dan was born on February 23, 1961, at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington to William Dale and Marlene Gray. He graduated from Ferris High School in 1979 and later attended Spokane Community College.

Dan pursued his passion for the culinary arts, building a career through his work at many restaurants and hospitality establishments, including the Everett Pacific Hotel, The Lighthouse in La Conner, Washington, the Spokane Club, Remington’s at the airport, and the Mirabeau Hotel. His talent and dedication to his craft were recognized when he received two awards from the American Culinary Federation.

In more recent years, Dan worked as a custodian at East Valley High School, where he was known for his hardworking nature and the warmth he brought to those around him.

Dan enjoyed many things in life, including fishing, camping, playing darts, painting, and watching sports—especially the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. He loved preparing amazing meals for his family and friends, and many will fondly remember his “famous” clam chowder. Dan was a fun-loving person with a wonderful sense of humor, and he had a special ability to make people smile and laugh.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, William Dale Gray, and his stepfather, Pat Montgomery.

He is survived by his mother, Marlene Montgomery; daughters, Amanda Perez (Daniel) and Ashley Gray; son, Jacob Gray; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating Dan’s life will be held at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff and hospice team for the compassion, kindness, and support they provided to Dan and his family.

Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His presence was a gift, his memory is a treasure, and his love will remain in our hearts forever.
