Alma K (Leitz) Bentley passed away July 21, 2016 in Spokane Valley, WA. Alma was born to F.W. Erich Leitz and Irene (Scheele) Leitz on January 04, 1929. She grew up on the family farm in Fairfield, WA and graduated from Waverly High School. She then attended Pacific Lutheran University.
Alma met the love of her life, William “Bunny” Bentley at a Halloween party in 1953. They were married October 3, 1954. In 1958 the Bentleys moved to Spokane where they lived the rest of their lives. Alma worked for an insurance company and then for Washington Trust Bank until she retired in the 1980’s. She was involved in numerous clubs and organizations, sang in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church and poured her heart into her family. She also loved to quilt. Her quilts have kept people warm all over the world.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, William Bentley; her parents, two brothers, Leonard and Franklin Leitz. She is survived by her brothers Ervin, Emil and Myron Leitz and their spouses; her sister Louise Vanderwilde; her son Daniel and wife Carolyn Brearey Bentley; grandsons John and wife Chelsea Ka Mayfield Bentley, Kristofer and wife Kasey Hicks Bentley and their children Ariah, Jude, Hunter, Imogen, Oliver, McKinsey & soon to be born William Hutch Bentley. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11am at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave, Millwood, WA 99212.
