Andrew James was born on April 17th, 2005 in Spokane, Washington. He completed our family of 5. He lived in Nine Mile Falls all his life. Even at a young age, Andrew had a passion for Jesus. He was always ready and willing to pray for anyone at any time. Andrew was first baptized at 7 years old. Then rebaptized at a summer camp when he was in his teens.
Andrew's love for the Lord grew even deeper in his sophomore year of highschool. He and some friends started a weekly morning bible study called Lakeside Revive. This is also around the time the Lord called Andrew into ministry. It wasn't until his senior year in high school, at a summer camp, that God reminded Andrew of his calling. He served wherever he could at Suncrest Worship. He interned for 2 years with kids and youth ministry. We would often say that he should just get a cot and sleep at church because he was there all the time! During his second year of interning, God spoke to Andrew again, that he was to be a youth pastor calling the next generation to go on missions. Andrew knew that he needed to go on a mission so he could encourage others to go.
Andrew left January 19th, 2026, for the Dominican Republic. He was scared and excited at the same time. He had never flown by himself, nor had he gone out of country. He never looked back. Although there was a language barrier, he talked and talked! Andrew served 5 months with the team. He helped with college ministry, led worship, bible studies and many outreach programs. We were told that Andrew was a youth pastor to all the students he interacted with. He absolutely loved the country and had a huge heart for the people. They all quickly became his second family.
Andrew went home to be with Jesus on May 28th, 2026 in the Dominican Republic. We are rejoicing through our tears. This is not goodbye. This is, we will see you soon one day. Andrew would want all of us to be bold for Jesus! And to, "Be A Sponge."
Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
