Betty Jean Beard

Our beloved mother, Betty Beard passed away at home May 13, 2015 at 85 years of age. She was born on January 6, 1930 and a resident of Cheney, Washington for 62 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Wally Beard, who she was married to for 42 years. She is survived by her children, Ann (Chet) Bettcher, Alan (Sally) Beard, and Patty (Mike) Cowen; grandchildren Amanda, Ken, Allison, Ashley, Nicholas, Shelly, and Rachel; and 12 lively great-grandchildren who called her "Great Betty." She was associated with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 72, Lutheran World Relief, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney School District, Lutheran Women in Harmony, and Cheney Recycle Center. She was well known for teaching swim lessons for 20 years. She is also known for making quilts, a passion for lighthouses, and loving to sing. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 639 Elm St. Cheney, WA on Monday, May i8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Followed by a graveside service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Donations can be made in her name to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
