Beverly was born to Catherine Louise Benn and Earl Lehman Fox August 5, 1931 in Minot, North Dakota. She joined her sister Barbara Patrice Fox, born in 1929 also in Minot. The family moved west to Washington state during the depression to find work. They settled near Brownsville in the Hood Canal area of western Washington where they met the Olsens, John and Eve and his brothers Fred and Archie. Archie Olsen visited often to see Kay and the girls in Seattle after her divorce. Kay and Archie were married July 2, 1938. They bought 5 acres in the Canyon Park area north of Bothell. They were happy to have a baby brother join the family April 14, 1944, James Gary Olsen.
Beverly graduated from Bothell High School in 1949. She went to work for the Bothell Citizen. It was there she met the advertising man, Douglas Leach. He worked part time while attending
the University of Washington. After a year at the paper, she attended Eastern Washington College.
After Doug graduated from the U of W, he started to work in Omak at the Chronicle and spent every weekend driving back and forth to Cheney. They moved back to Western Washington and were married March 9, 1951. Doug returned to working at the Citizen and so did Bev when they needed a fill in at the office. That is until Steven Douglas joined the family June 13, 1952. Rick William was born June 19,1954. By that time, the family was living in Bothell.
Doug started his own business, Leach Motel Printing which they operated together until 2012. They traveled for the business, delivering to customers in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. After Doug’s death in 2020, Bev moved to Avamere Living in Spokane and made many new friends, including Don Jacobson who was right across the hall. They were able to spend much time together, including Bev’s final days. Bev enjoyed visiting Yellowstone Park, the Ocean, walking, reading, horses, family and friends, studying the Bible and above all, had a great love for Jesus Christ.
