Cassandra "Sandy" Elaine Witter
May 7, 1945 – May 5, 2019
Sandy Witter went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2019 two days before her 74th birthday. Sandy’s soul left in peace while in her home surrounded by her children.
Sandy was born in Spokane, Washington on May 7, 1945, at Sacred Heart Hospital, and many times talked about how her baby photo still hangs on the hospital wall today. Sandy was raised in the Pacific Northwest by her mother, Blanche Mary Marie Johnson, and stepfather James Lee Stroud.
Later in life Sandy married the love of her life Dale Witter. Sandy and Dale were a fantastic team, and together made many friends. Sandy loved metal detecting with friends from The Northwest Treasure Hunters Club, and displayed her many treasures for her family and friends to see. Sandy was an animal lover, and is survived by her two cats Baxter and Buford, and her loving K-9 Stumper Joe. Sandy was an avid knitter, and every year she knitted hats and gloves for the homeless. Sandy was a savvy entrepreneur, and before retiring owned a ceramics shop (Sandy’s Ceramics), in Newport WA. But without a doubt, the biggest passion of Sandy’s life was making quilts for all the people in her life. Not only did Sandy make beautiful quilts, she taught others to do the same.
Sandy had many friends, and her door was always open to friends and family. She had a great sense of humor and loved to banter back and forth.
Sandy is survived by four children, Catherine Bewick, Geneva Mahar, DeEtt Blevins, and Henry Forrest Jr. (Kicho). Sandy was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Sandy is also survived by her brother Michael Hamblen, and fifteen half brothers and sisters.
With a heavy heart I say that Sandy will be deeply missed by all that knew her, but I also know that Sandy is with her loving husband and many family members that passed before her. And with that knowledge, all of us here today can rejoice knowing that Sandy is surrounded by Love and Happiness in her new Heavenly Home.
