

He was born April 6, 1933, in Lingle, Wyoming, to Lundy and Pearl Benshoof. When Cavil was 12 years old, he and his family moved to Otis Orchards, Washington. He graduated from Otis Orchards High School in 1951.
In 1953, Cavil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served for three years.
He received degrees from Northwest Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary.
Cavil enjoyed several careers, including pastor of the St. Maries, Idaho, Church of the Nazarene; owner of a farm equipment store in Tekoa, Washington; tax preparer for H & R in the Spokane Valley; and a general contractor.
In 1969 he married Elinor (Townsend) Benjamin.
Cavil is survived by his beloved wife, Elinor, of 52 years, his son John (Trishia) Benshoof; step-son Doug (Lynda) Benjamin; step-daughter Karen (Dan) Tweedy; Tena Benjamin (widow of Edwin Benjamin); sister, Leona Albertson; brother, Lyman (Geri) Benshoof; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Genevieve Benshoof; his parents; and his step-son Edwin Benjamin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 12, at 2:00 pm at Spokane Valley Nazarene Church where he was a member for many years.
