The world is a lesser place with the passing of Charles Wheeler Etherington Jr. on December 12, 2010, after a 9 month battle with lung cancer. Chuck was born September 11, 1944 to Charles and Verda Etherington in Rupert, Idaho, one of 10 children.
Chuck spent 4 years in the Air Force as a computer technician, 40 years at Inland Foundry and 5 years at NEW Castings, retiring in October of 2010. He loved playing golf, achieving two “hole in ones” in his career, loved to travel, collected diecast cars and model trains and enjoyed watching nearly every sport that was televised. Ultimately his greatest love was spending time with his family.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary; his children Kimberlin (Kevin) Sprague, Loren Etherington and Trina Etherington; granddaugthers Shala Etherington (James), Savannah and Alexandria Sprague. He is also survived by his mother Verda Etherington of Rupert, Idaho; brothers and sisters, Clifford (Gloria) Etherington, George (Judy) Etherington, Steve (Karma) Etherington, Jim (Connie) Etherington, Lela (John) Joses, Teena (Mike) Zemke, Laurie Perotto, Becky (John) Schuelke, and Ann (Danny) Ramsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Charles in 1986.
By his request there will be no viewing or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to SCRAPS-2521 N. Flora, Spokane, WA 99216 or www.spokanecounty.org\SCRAPS in his name. A gathering will be planned at a later date for family and friends.
