

Charles Edward Jones was born September 6, 1922 in Arkansas and entered into rest November 12, 2010 in Spokane, WA. He and his family survived the depression by moving across the U.S. working the fields and farms. They arrived in Washington State in 1939.
At the age of 17, Charles joined the Civilian Conservation Corp, spending three years cooking in the camps. Those three years were probably some of the happiest times of his life.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 and was stationed at Clovis, New Mexico where he met his wife, Clara. They were married June 14, 1945. He retired from the Air Force in 1964, after serving his country both here and overseas.
Charles and Clara had three children, Charles Edward, Jr., Sandra Kaye and Kathleen Ann.
After retiring from the service, Charles and Clara moved their family to Spokane, WA where he worked as a cook for St. Luke’s Hospital, The Davenport Hotel, The Ridpath Hotel and the Ramada Inn.
Upon retiring from professional cooking, Charles worked for over 20 years at Our Place Ministries, the Food Bank, serving Westminster Presbyterian Church, and cooking for the kids at LOGOS until pancreatic cancer slowed him down.
Dad loved helping people, especially children. He was honored to receive as award from the Children’s Alliance. He was a foster parent to many children when living in Mississippi.
Dad devoted his life to his family and those in need. He will be greatly missed in the community. He was a generous, kind and patient man.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Kaye. Charles is survived by his wife, Clara; son, Charles; daughter, Kathleen; granddaughters, Chandra, Bree Anna and Bonnie. He is also survived by seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and his two sisters, Aretta Keller and Loretta Brockett.

Memorial Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2705 W. Boone Avenue, Spokane, WA at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2010. Private interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
