Claire Lillian Robert Suiter was born April 16, 1944 in Enosburg Falls Vermont. She was the ninth and last child of Albert and Leontine Robert. Claire traveled to Spokane Washington in 1970 with her sister Pauline and brother-in-law Richard and their family, who was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. She met her husband, Charles Suiter and married in July 1971. Charles came with two daughters (Pamela Suiter and Robin Whitehead, who she later adopted) and they had two more daughters, Kimberly Knapp and Jennifer Gothmann.
Claire held a position working at Kmart for many years, finishing as a Pharmacist Assistant before she retired. Once she retired, she loved to travel. She made trips back to Vermont to see her family and went on gambling adventures on a tour bus to Winnemucca Nevada with her friends. She liked to stay active, whether it was traveling, going to listen to live music with her friends or donating her time to her family and friends. She was a lifetime Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary member having been sponsored by a brother who served. She enjoyed various friendships with those in her apartment complex, friendship with people that enjoyed listening to live music and specifically followed the career of Steve Starkey, and she maintained long term relationships with people she’d met over the years. She was known for her ability to talk to anyone and frequently did!
Claire was preceded in death by her husband Charles (1993) and her oldest adopted daughter Pamela (1999). Grandchildren include Jessica Whitehead (Robin and Robert Whitehead), Adrianna Suiter and Charles James (C.J.) Knapp (Kimberly Knapp) and Ally Gothmann and Taylor Gothmann (Jennifer and Mark Gothmann) and one great grandson, Axton Suiter (Adrianna Suiter).
A Celebration of Life with light refreshments will be held on July 3rd at 11am at the Mirabeau Meadows Picnic Shelter in Mirabeau Park, 13500 E Mirabeau Parkway, Spokane Valley WA 99206. All are welcome.
