To Barb and Family,

I was saddened to hear about Craig's death. Since we no longer live in Spokane, I was informed by Greg Jones, and Jim Nania. We all had the privilege to work with Craig in Deaconess ER.

I remember well my last year of residency when Craig called to offer me a job in the ER. What a great opportunity for me. Craig was a great mentor and colleague during those early years. He also encouraged my involvement in Emergency Medical Services in Spokane, and the surrounding area. Craig also taught me to gently say "no" when requests for my time might overwhelm my professional, personal, and family life. A timely lesson indeed.

I also fondly remember Craig helping me pick out a pup from a litter sired by one of his wonderful Golden Retrievers, and hunting at Philleo Lake. Our last conversation was updating each other on our careers, and more importantly, our families. Family was most important to him.

I feel honored to have had Craig in my life. He will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
Dave and Linda Ott

It was with much surprise and sadness that I read of Craig's passing this morning. He was the consummate physician applying his great skill in the Emergency Room, where the rubber meets the road in the medical world. If Craig called and said I need you now, we were off and running.
And he was also a great leader in the field of emergency medicine chairing the SCMS committee in addition to many other leadership roles. I marveled at the clarity he could project with the use of algorithms in dealing with real life ER crises. We have lost a friend and physician of the highest rank.
