

Earl Lunn Seagrave passed away on March 13, 2025. He was born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts on October 26, 1929. He graduated from Uxbridge High School and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. With the draft coming up, he decided to enlist in the Air Force. After training as a radio operator, he was an enlisted man for the next two years and then was accepted into flight school.
After training in the Piper Cub and T6 in Florida, he flew jets. In 1953, when he was stationed at James Connally AFB in Waco, Texas, he started flying F94s and also met his future wife, JoAnn May. On May 14, 1954, they were married and started a life of moving every few years. They were stationed on Cape Cod and in Anchorage, Alaska, where son Brian was born; in Texas where daughter Rebecca was born; in Portland, Oregon; 3 times in Florida; Michigan, and, finally, Spokane. After their assignment in Portland, Earl spent the year of 1965 and 1966 in Viet Nam flying the O1E as a Forward Air Controller. Most of his missions were over the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. For his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star and numerous Air Medals.
Upon his return to the states, he checked out in the F-101. Previously, he had flown the F89 and F94. He ended his career at Geiger Field in Spokane after 26 years. He worked in construction for three years building houses and then retired for good to salmon fish on the coast in summer, go on the Gentlemen on Horseback rides annually, hunt on horseback in Idaho and Montana for elk, pheasant hunt in the fall, and fish for walleye and trout in summer in his camper with JoAnn.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; son, Brian Seagrave, and wife, Becke; daughter, Rebecca, and husband, Lee Jennings; five grandchildren, Joshua, Hannah, Elizabeth, Samuel and Sarah; and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alan, and one sister, Ruby. He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Florence; brothers, Richard and Charles, and sister, Nancy.
A memorial service will be held at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home on April 11, 2025, at 1 p.m.
