Eugene Frederick Behar was born June 16th on the way to Deaconess Hospital in a new 1956 Chevy taxi. Nothing was fast enough for him. His mother, Lenora Larson Behar, was an amazing woman who was taken way too soon.
Eugene suffered a rough childhood with his brilliant but evil stepfather who also killed his mother. It made him one tough cookie but he always maintained a heart of gold. He vowed to always help women, starting with a large donation to the Vanessa Behan crisis center.
Eugene learned to fly a crop duster at the age of 12 so when he went into the army (actual age 16), he was fast tracked through flight school. He flew a couple missions in Vietnam and patrolled the US/ Canadian/ Russian airspace where he said he nearly froze to death. Eugene was a master of many trades; mechanics, auto body, painting, horticulture, husbandry, construction. He could operate any kind of equipment from huge cranes on the Puget Sound to his little John Deere tractor he used on his farm near Reardan. Eugene was a mentor to so many, he loved building race cars and motors and would gladly teach his craft to anyone willing to learn.
He was adored by his wife and partner of 20 years Lori Johnson, his kids Chevelle Renee and Eugene Richard, step kids and all the OPK’s he encountered over the years. He will be dearly missed.
