

A kind and caring Husband, an ever supporting and fun loving Dad, the craziest of Brothers, an amazing Son, and a sincere Friend. Garrett Lown passed away December 26, 2021, in Spokane Valley WA. Garrett was born March 13, 1987 in Orange CA. His parents are Steve and Cindy Lown of Spokane Valley, WA. Garrett moved from Cypress CA to Spokane Valley when he was 5. He had three older sisters, Jeanette, Mandy, and Cassie. His sisters were his best friends growing up and spent years entertaining each other. He walked at 8 months old and was fearless his whole life. Garrett played several sports in school and enjoyed cross country and wrestling the most. Garrett was seriously funny and entertaining to all.
Garrett graduated from University High School and then went on to serve 6 years in the Navy from June 2006 to July 2012. Most of his time was spent serving on The USS Eisenhower where he was an air traffic controller. He also served at NAS Oceana. While on the USS Eisenhower from 2007-2010, Garrett obtained his Case I Supervisor, Air Operations Supervisor and Case III Final controller. While at NAS Oceana from 2010-2012, he obtained his ground controller, PAR/ASR, Clearance delivery, Base Operations Supervisor, Tower Data qualifications. Garrett participated in 3 worldwide deployments. He received a Letter of Commendation from battle group commander and Commanding Officer for work done on 2009 deployment.
In 2009, Garrett met his best friend and future bride, Chastity Edwards, when she transferred onto the USS Eisenhower. They worked along side of each other and had many great adventures while on tour in the Navy. In 2012, their life changed. Garrett finished the Navy just in time for his new career of “Stay Home Dad”, while Chastity was still in the Navy. Their daughter, Adeline Lown was born in July, 2012. Garrett spent the next several years at home with his family in Virginia Beach. Garrett secured an air traffic control position at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas in 2015, He stayed there until September 2021, when he secured a position at Fairchild Air Force Base and got the opportunity to move back to his home town of Spokane Valley. He truly loved that position and all the wonderful new friends he got to meet.
Garrett was involved and supported all of Adeline’s activities: Girl Scouts, Dance, Cheer, Sports and even her dress-up and make-up partner. He loved animals and had many. Garrett enjoyed motorcycle riding, hiking, WWE, Comics, traveling, vacations and every adventure with Chastity, Addy, Family and friends. Whatever Garrett took interest in, he became an expert on it and he gave 100% to what he loved. Garrett and his family were huge sports fans and so their door was always open for their friends to come over.
Garrett is survived by a loving and supportive family. His parents, Steve and Cindy Lown, His grandfather, Paul Lown. Garrett's sisters with their families: Jeanette Short and her husband Mike Short and daughter Zoe and son Nico. Mandy Martinson and her two sons Lorenzo and Rosco Villagrana and her husband Rob Martinson and daughter Shiloh and son Tristan Martinson. Cassie Hilton and her husband Angelo Hilton and their two daughters, Harlow and Gwenna, and their son, Ocean Hilton. Chastity’s family: her parents, Brian and Geri Edwards, her brother, Brian Edwards Jr and his daughter Ariana and son Bradley, Plus many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Garrett Lown had a special gift of friendliness and was always ready to meet his next friend. He was ready to help anyone. He was fearless, loved his family and touched everyone who knew him. Because of this, there is nowhere in this world that his family can go where Garrett will not be with them.
A favorite saying of Garrett’s, that was passed on to him from his grandfather, was “Smile, even if you don’t mean it, Smile.”
A loving memorial to honor Garrett Lown, is planned for a later date.
