

Gary Allen Gross of Spokane, WA passed away April 26, 2018 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born February 14, 1939 in Spokane, Gary attended Rogers High School, graduating in 1957, and graduated from Eastern Washington College in 1959. Gary married Judith L. Olmstead of Spokane on August 3, 1960.
Gary enlisted in the United States Air Force after college and retired after 23 years of serving our country. After his time in the military he worked for the United States Postal Service for 18 years before retiring at the age of 62.
Gary sang Barbershop Harmony for over 50 years. He sang Tenor and Bass, enjoying singing in a quartet with his son Mark and a variety of other quartets from the Pages of Harmony, in competitions throughout the West Coast.
Gary also loved snowmobiling, cheering the Seahawks and Zags, and was a pit crew member of his daughter Sherri's racing team and cheerleader of his son John's various sports. He was also an avid scratch Golfer, though there is question in his later years, about the accuracy of his score card.
Gary was much beloved by many friends he made through his various activities. Noone had anything bad to say about him. "We’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace you always gave us, Dad. You were there for Mom and for us through good times and bad times, no matter what. We’ll always remember you, Dad, because there will never be another one to replace you in our hearts and for the love we will always have for you. You were taken from us too soon. We love you and will always cherish our time with you."
Gary is survived by his wife of 57 Years, sons Mark Gross and John Gross, daughter Sherri Hannum, son-in-law Andy Hannum, nephews Ray Spurrier and Mike Kraft, granddaughter Gracy Hannum, grandsons Matthew Gross, Nathaniel Barrett and Brandon Barrett.
He is preceded in death by parents Mel and Ethel Gross, and sister Barbara Kraft.
A Celebration of his life will be held May 12, 2018 at 11:00, at North Hill Christian Church with Reception to follow, 4620 N Post St. Spokane. The Thornhill Valley Chapel is in charge of Services.
