After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Glen Clark, 76, of Spokane Valley, passed away at Hospice House South, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a husband, father, and friend to all he met. He will be deeply missed. Those who knew Glen appreciated his can-do attitude, his constant willingness to help others and his ability to enjoy to the fullest the simple things in life. He adored his pets, meeting new people, and giving advice. Glen was born in Monroe, Washington and lived his early life there. He enlisted in the Marines (Semper Fi!) in 1959 and was very proud of his time spent serving his country. In 1965, he married Carline Ingram and they enjoyed 51 years together until her passing in 2016. In 1975, he and Carline moved their family to North Idaho, he worked many years at Potlatch in Coeur d’Alene, Insamet Aluminum, and Spokane Cedar. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years in Spokane: helping family and neighbors with household projects and leaf and snow removal and also working in his woodshop and riding bicycles for miles with his grandson. Glen is survived by his children: daughter Jenny Dykes and husband James, daughter Kimberley O’Connor and husband Martin, son David Clark and husband David Long, and son Tim Clark and wife Kim. He had a special love for all of his grandchildren: Jesse, Dylan, Amber, Justin, Chris and Brandy. Glen is also survived by his siblings Howard Clark, Julie Thorinson and Deanna Van Camp and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Carline, his brother Daniel, and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, March 9th at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, with gravesite services to follow at 12:30. Flowers may be sent to Ball and Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane. Dad was a longtime supporter of Hospice of Spokane and would have encouraged donations in his name.
