Hattie Viola Condon Marquez was born on February 16, 1920 in Kartar Valley, Washington to Lucille Louie and Smith Condon. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 24, 2021, living to the amazing age of 101 1/2 years.
Hattie was the matriarch of the family, a beloved mother and was one of the oldest living members of the Colville Confederated Tribes. She attended Chemawa Indian School and later relocated to Spokane, where she became certified as a licensed practical nurse in 1955. Hattie loved life! She loved music, and dancing, especially Rod Stewart. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid gardener, and loved baking for her family.
She loved to travel, especially if it involved casinos. She enjoyed cheering on the Seattle Mariners and the home team of Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Hattie is survived by her daughter Verla Hamilton of Inverness, Florida; daughter Lynette Kral of Spokane; son Kevin Marquez of Fruitland, WA; and daughters Carla and Lisa Marquez both of Spokane. She is also survived by four siblings who live on the Colville Reservation: Theresa Sam, Katherine "Kathy" Sirois, Henry Condon and Margie Hutchinson; and a large extended family of cousins and nieces and nephews.
